A Study on Attitude in Sex and Need of Sex Education of Some Teachers Collegians


Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide an information to administrate an effective sex-education in Teachers Colleges by refferring to morality, experience and frustration of sex, and heterosexual acquaintance of those collegians and by analyzing the differences in accordance with their personal backgrounds(grade, sex, departments, religion, household income, having parent or not, havitation condition).
The subjects of this study were 536 students in K Teachers College and the investigation was conducted from April 18, 1988 to April 29, 1988 with the questionaire made by tresearcher herself. All the data were processed by SPSS computer program.
1. The relation between sex-morality and personal background.
1) On pre-marital sexual intercourse, 70.3% of those investigated were conservative and the freshmen(P<0.01), females(P<0.001), arts and athletic department students(P< 0.05), and christians(P<0.01) were conspicious in conservatism.
2) On pre-marital cohabitation 48.6% subjects objected strongly to that kind of idea and it was conspicious in females(P<0.001), Christians(P<0.001), middle-class o (springs (P<0.05), and those having both parents(P<0.05).
3) 80.6% subjects agreed to keep purity before marriage and females (P<0.001), and Catholics(P<0.001) held to it more strongly.
2. The relationship between sexual intercourse experience and personal background.
1) 18.6% subjects have had the sexual intercourse experience and seniors(P<0.01), males(P<0.001), students without mother or father(P<0.01), and students living off-home (P<0.0 1) were more likely to have it.
2) 51.8% subjects have had the experience of mastervation and juniors(P<0.01), males(P<0.001), students whose parents are poor(P<0.05), and students without mother or father(P<0.05) were more likely to have it.
3. The relationship between sexual. frustration and personal background.
31.0% subjects had any kind of sexual frustration and females(P<0.05) and students whose parents are poor were more likely(P<0.01). Among the causes of sexual frustration, A he desire to make friends with opposite sex was the first and sexual impulse of males or sexual deficiency of females were the second u the list representing a meaningful difference between males and females(P<0.001). Having this frustration, 46.3% subjects kept it to himself.
4. The relationship between heterosexual acquaintance and personal background.
66.7% subjects have.had heterosexual acquaintance and males have had (P<0.001). 54.1% of the above 66.7% subjects and the freshmen regarded his or her partner as just friend, where as seniors regarded their partners as fiances. Those living in their houses have his partner as just friends and those living off-houses as lovers(P<0.001).
5. The need of sex education.
74.5% subjects have had sex education and more sophomore. (P<0.05) and females (P<0.001) got the education. 98.8% subjects agreed with the need of sex education. Sex morality, sex law, and prevention of sexual harassment (43.4% subjects) were wanted as the main content of it. Males wanted more about heterosexual acquaintance and females wanted more about marriage, conception, and delivery representing meaningful correlation (P<0.05). There¢¥s also meaningful correlation between the attitude toward premarital attitude and sexual intercourse(P<0.001), sexual frustration (P<0.05), heterosexual acquaintance(P< 0.001), and sex education(P<0.( 01), between sexual intercourse and heterosexual acquaintance(P<0.001), sex education(P<;0.001), and finally between sexual frustration and heterosexual acquaintance(P<0.001).
